The Wailing Wall or
Western Wall where prayer is offered up to heaven 24 hours a day,
365 days a year. How did it get its name? The British, when they
saw the Jews "wailing" or praying at the "Western"
Wall, called it the "Wailing" Wall and that is how it
got its name. The wall, at its bed rock, lies 50 feet below the
surface of the earth.
